NEXT PRODUCE PICK UP DAYS: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH
AND SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH, 3-8PM.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THEN.
OBSERVED:
*TIM, TONY AND CHAD HAVE BEEN BUSILY GETTING THE
GROUND READY FOR 2005--DISKING, AND ROTOTILLING.
THIS WORKS ALL THE OLD CROPS UNDER IN ORDER TO
PREPARE FOR SPRING PLANTING. THEN THEY WILL BE
PUTTING UP OVER A 1/2 MILE OF FENCING TO TIE THE
2005 BRANDYWINE TOMATOES
ON. (THE LARGE, SWEET TOMATOES YOU ENJOYED THIS
YEAR.)
*WE WILL BE OFFERING THE OPTION OF A YOU-PICK
CANNING FIELD IN 2005 FOR AN ADDITIONAL COST. WE
ARE STILL WORKING OUT SOME OF THE DETAILS. THIS
WILL BE INCLUDED WITH THE APPLICATION PROCESS ON
OUR SITE IN THE NEAR FUTURE SO YOU CAN START
MAKING YOUR PLANS FOR 2005. VEGGIES IN THE
CANNING FIELD WILL INCLUDE: TOMATOES, PEPPERS,
HOT PEPPERS, AND BEANS.
***TAKE NOTE:
THERE IS GOING TO BE A CONFERENCE FOR
COMMUNITY SUPPORTED
AGRICULTURE CALLED "GROWING
TOGETHER" IN TUSTIN, MICHIGAN ON NOVEMBER 12-14.
THERE WILL BE WORKSHOPS AND PRESENTATIONS, CSA
TOOLS AND RESOURCES, MUSIC, DANCING AND

*RECIPE*
I got the following recipe from a recipe book I
have called "The Victory Garden Cookbook" by
Marian Morash. Delicious!
(You may use any winter squash except
spaghetti for this recipe; I use Pie
Pumpkin.)
Squash Cookies
1/2 cup softened butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups mashed cooked winter squash
2 1/2 cups flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp allspice
1 cup raisins
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts
Cream butter and sugars together until fluffy.
Beat in eggs, then the squash.
Sift dry ingredients together and stir into
squash mixture.
Stir in raisins and nuts.
Spoon onto greased baking pans and bake in a
preheated 375 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.
(Makes 5-6 dozen cookies.)
