NEWSLETTER # 15
DECEMBER 1, 2004
This weekend is the last weekend for pick up of
produce.
Well, it has been quite a year of good produce! We
enjoyed meeting each of you members and look forward
to getting to know you better in the future here at
the farm. Even though it is our last weekend for
pick-up, I encourage you to continue to try eating
the best produce you can find. While local is
definitely a challenge, at least try to eat
organically. It is so much healthier for you and I'm
sure you'll agree, tastier.
2004 Members Only: If you would like to sign
up for the 2005 season, you may send in a $25.00
deposit now up until March 1st. This will hold your
share for you. Please let us know the size share you
would like.
Thank you for
your patience and many words of encouragement
throughout the season. Remember, that without you as
a member, the farm would not be what it is-a CSA, a
Community Supported Agriculture farm. You make
the farm, and we would like to see you more
involved. Please see the second paragraph
below under "observed" for more information.
THIS WEEK'S PICKS:
POTATOES: LOTS TO STORE. SOME WILL STORE UNTIL
APRIL! KALE, BLACK CABBAGE, AND HERBS YOU CAN FIND
AND CUT.
OBSERVED:
*WE WILL BE OFFERING THE OPTION OF
A YOU-PICK CANNING FIELD FOR THE 2005 SEASON. THE
CANNING FIELD VEGGIES WILL INCLUDE: TOMATOES,
PEPPERS, HOT PEPPERS, BEANS AND TOMATILLOS. WE WILL
HAVE MORE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE ABOUT THE SIGN
UP PROCESS FOR THIS PRETTY SOON.
***THE CSA FARMING CONFERENCE THAT
TIM AND I ATTENDED WAS GREAT! WE WISH SOME OF YOU
COULD HAVE BEEN THERE. WE ATTENDED MANY WORKSHOPS.
ONE OF THE THINGS WE WOULD LIKE TO WORK ON IS
GETTING YOU MEMBERS MORE INVOLVED IN THE FARM. WHILE
WE STILL DO NOT WANT TO HAVE A WORK REQUIREMENT, WE
WOULD LIKE TO OFFER YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO COME JOIN
US ON THE FARM WHEN WE HAVE A PROJECT GOING. WE
WOULD CALL YOU A COUPLE WEEKS AHEAD OF TIME AND LET
YOU KNOW THE DAY AND TIME TO VOLUNTEER. YOUR
CHILDREN WILL BE WELCOME, TOO. YOU CAN BRING A
PICNIC LUNCH AND THIS WAY YOU COULD GET TO KNOW ONE
ANOTHER BETTER. MAYBE MAKE SOME NEW FRIENDS THAT
SHARE THE SAME INTERESTS IN LOCAL ORGANIC FOOD AND
FARMING. IT WILL BE FUN AND ENJOYABLE FOR THE ENTIRE
FAMILY!
YOUR INPUT:
***GET YOUR WISH LIST IN NOW. PLEASE TELL US/SEND US
A LIST OF WHICH ITEMS YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE
AVAILABLE TO YOU FOR 2005. WE ARE DOING SEED

SOON!!! PLEASE BE SPECIFIC IF YOU CAN.
* WE WILL BE SENDING YOU A
SHORT, SIMPLE SURVEY. PLEASE FILL IT OUT AND
SEND BACK TO US AS SOON AS YOU CAN. WE WOULD
LIKE TO IMPROVE IN WHAT EVER WAYS WE CAN HERE AT
THE FARM. THANK YOU!
KINDLY REMINDERS:

THE 2005 SEASON. IF YOU ARE NOT SIGNING UP FOR 2005,
OR ARE UNSURE, PLEASE LEAVE THEM WITH US, AS WE WILL
USE THEM FOR 2005.

*CHECK IN WITH US ONCE IN A WHILE! WE WILL BE
POSTING NEWSLETTERS ONCE A MONTH THROUGHOUT THE
WINTER.
*RECIPE*
This is one of Tim's favorites. He cannot have too
much fried oil; if he does, his hands, knees and
feet split open and bleed. So, since he absolutely
loves potato chips, this is a healthy alternative
for him.
ROBIN'S OVEN-BAKED POTATO CHIPS
1 cup rice flour (or any you prefer)
cilantro
garlic salt
paprika
fresh ground pepper
olive oil
4 or 5 medium Yukon potatoes, skin on
Combine first five ingredients in bowl that has
tight-fitting lid.
Preheat oven 450 degrees. Slice potatoes thinly and
put in bowl with olive oil; cover with lid and
shake. Transfer into dry ingredient bowl; cover with
lid and shake to coat well. Transfer potatoes to
cookie sheet(s). Bake in oven about 45 minutes to an
hour, turning potatoes half-way through. Enjoy!
