Garden Patch Farm
CSA Newsletter #11
Hello Members,
Did You Know?
The average U.S.
citizen spends less than 12 percent of his or her disposable income on food.
A CSA membership is both a great value and a great way to support the local
economy with your food dollars.
***Please remember to
check off your name on the sign-in sheet. Thank you.***

Tips, Hints and
Ideas
--For Potatoes:
-Add raw potato chunks
to stews and hearty soups during the last 20-30 minutes of cooking.
-Keeping peeled
potatoes in cold water prevents them from discoloring; however, it also
releases their starch.
-Use cooked sliced
potatoes in quiches and omelets.
-Use left over mashed
potatoes in cakes, and yeast breads.
-Make an omelet with
potatoes, onions, peppers, olives, and eggs.
I will take requests
for Tips, Hints and Ideas featuring a vegetable of your choice. Let me know
via email, as this is best.
If we do not get
an early frost, you may have produce up to the first weekend in November
(and then one weekend in December).
