Garden Patch Farm CSA Newsletter #3
July 26, 2005
Hello Members,
Are you enjoying the
produce here at Garden Patch Farm? I just made a scrumptious stir-fry with
pasta Sunday night using the kale, collard greens, Bok Choy
greens, kohlrabi, a bit of broccoli, some sweet onions, garlic, zucchini,
black soy beans, and topped it off with some chopped tomatoes at the end. I
also put thyme, oregano, marjoram and salt & pepper in at the end. The
family loved it (well, I don't know if I can say Heather loved it, but she
liked it). I enjoy coming up with new dishes by just throwing things
together...
Hope you will enjoy the
coming weekend's harvest.

*The collard greens need
another two weeks to grow
*No garlic until later
in the season

corn by the end of August, beginning of September.
Some of you have
inquired about cilantro--we will have it a bit later in the season.
Then I'm sure you'll love to make that fresh salsa you love so much! :)
Available to

Available to

*Turkey (8 left out of the 60 for November pick up) $3.75/lb.
* "One United Harvest" recipe books--you may sign
up for one to purchase later, (or you can pay now) as I will order more
books based on how many orders I get from you. I have Garden Patch
Farm's copy here for you to examine. It is a book of recipes gathered
from CSA farms across America. They are $16.00 each.
About our
eggs--
the hens will start laying sometime in September. You members will have
"first pick", as you are here at the farm every week. We are not sure how
many dozens we will have available. They will be first come, first served
and are $3.75/dozen. The hens are raised the same way our meat birds are--in
movable shelters. They too forage on grasses and clovers and we supplement
with certified organic grains. When the eggs are ready, I will notify you in
that week's newsletter. (As the daylight hours decrease, so does egg
production. Conversely, as the daylight hours lengthen--in the spring &
summer, then egg production increases, so we will have more starting next
spring).
Please be
careful and watch for pedestrians and other vehicles as you enter
and leave our driveway--drive slowly and be prepared to stop. Thank you.
There is nothing like a
garden
for making you feel
small.
There you are, right in
the middle
of the greatest miracle
of all--
the world of growing
things.

We look forward to
seeing you this weekend! :-)
